Vendors often provide a route maintenance schedule for systems and equipement. This schedule may be added to the system and tracked by calendar or vessel hours to ensure maintenance is completed. Reporting exists that will outline upcoming maintenance and the necessary parts, supplies and tools needed in order to minimize the time required in maintenance preparation.
During a passage the crew can add notes on systems or equipment showing signs of failure or deterioration. The notes can be added as maintenance required when arriving at a destination. Maintenance required integrates with funcationality to manage vendor requests and engagements or to complete the required board by a crew member.
Communication is primary issue with engaging a vendor to complete maintenance or repairs. Using the Request for Pricing and Work Order funcionality, NAVOPLAN provides a mechanism to clear communicate the work required, expected results and financial agreements. Language can be customized based on the geographic location, vendor type and specific work to improve communication and results.
For vessels that travel in remote locations or on long passage spare parts are necessary. Parts can be tracked in NAVOPLAN and are integrated with maintenance functionality. For route maintenance items (such as engine oil) a desired inventory level can be set to create a shopping list when at the next port. Parts can be pulled from vessel inventory, purchased from a vendor or a combination of both to meet maintenance or repair requirements. Parts are placed in a location in the organization tree to minimize searching.
NAVOPLAN includes a database of over 2000 tools that can be tracked by location and used on the vessel. Additional tools may be added. For maintenanc items, most vendors will list the tools required to complete a maintenace task. NAVOPLAN includes the parts, tools and supplies required for maintenance tasks.
Fuctionality in NAVOPLAN is extensive and may be implemented over a period of time. Some of the functionality may not be required on your vessel or you may wish to implement at a later date. You have the option to turn on/off functionality as you need it.
