Repository to store a documents and manuals online for quick access.
In order to centralize document management on a vessel (saving space and retrieval time) was an origional driver of the NAVOPLAN application. This type of storage is the primary expense in hosting a vessels information so each plan has different online storage capacity levels. You may add, move or remove documents within the application. There are also a few documents that are generated by the application which include reports, passage files and blog documents.
Storing every manual for every piece of equipment or gear on a vessel can take up a lot of space. Finding the manual, or even the information in the manual, can also be challenging. By keeping a copy of all vessel documents in a digital library they are found quickly and can be searched based on need. This can be very helpful when time is of the essence. Almost all vendors have a support page with PDF versions of manuals, diagrams, specifications and maintenance for their products.
Passages that require documentation for each crew member (often when entering a new country) can be stored in the system. When creating a new passage the port and country are checked and documentation for each crew member based on their nationality is saved.
In addition to the planned route, extensive data is gathered and stored for vessel monitoring, reporting and future app functionality. A future release is planned with AI functionality that will make recommendations by analyzing current and historical data.
